Book covers should not be boring! The following examples are anything but boring. Guess what the book with all the wood on the front cover…you guessed it…wood. Kind of wood…applications for wood…pictures of wood products. In this instance the wood is actually a “placemat” to put under dinner dishes. The “sheet” of wood we simply mount to the front cover of a finished bound cover.
The book with a “78” record mounted on the front cover is about…you guessed it…the history of vinyl records! To get a few thousand, used vinyl records, simply contact the head offices of some thrift store chains. Tell them you want to buy 100’s of records with greatly damaged/ripped jackets at a greatly discounted price. Quickly, you have thousands of records that go into the making of an absolutely, unique, very saleable book.
The book with the three dimensional “brain”, is simply a plastic “vacuum formed”, piece that we mounted inside the book cover. In this case we die-cut the wrapped book cover, inserted the plastic piece that had a quarter inch rim around the edge, and mounted a standard “end paper”, that is found in all case wrapped/hard back bound books to permanently hold the piece in place.
The fourth book with the heavy, two-inch-thick magnifying glass was inserted and glued into the cover much the same.
