These five pictures are over somewhat standard board books for children. The distinctive is that the corners are rounded. The cover is padded. When I visit large bookstores, I observe that the children’s book section is expanding or others are contracting. I’m seeing most of the books are “board books” for children. High percentage of them padded. A number of years ago, the padding was very unusual. You noticed the two last pictures show the extended spine folded glued together. Four pages are not glued to the spine, but the front page and the last page act as an end paper and are glued to the padded case. Board books are something we do regularly and I’m expecting the demand is going to increase.
The six pictures show what is fundamentally a run of the mill board book. Yes, it’s shaped which we do with one of our four PMC high machines. The difference here is the customer supplied a cloth padded “animal figure” which is hand glued on the front cover. Again, it’s a method to engage children, to intrigue them. Gluing on the padded piece is durable, and child attractive.
