Embracing the Beauty of Deckle Edging

Jagged Elegance

Our exclusive process, known as “deckle edging,” introduces a touch of jagged elegance to each sheet. The result is a closed book with a face that resembles a carefully frayed piece of cloth. This unique texture adds character and sophistication, making your book a true work of art.

Ragged Charm

The surface of the closed book takes on a distinctive appearance with ragged edges that evoke a sense of vintage charm. Deckle edges are not just a feature; they are a statement. Each page turn becomes a tactile experience, connecting the reader to the craftsmanship that goes beyond the words on the paper.

This book has two distinctives.  Usually when the front cover is die-cut, the picture seen through the die-cut hole is the glued side of the end paper which is used to line the hardback case.  In this situation there’s an unusually wide flap as you can see from the head of the book and so the die-cut circle you look at it and see this printed coin, it’s on the inside of the flap and then secondly, the face edge has been deckled edge.  Unusual, something we can do for you

The product for this week is “decal edges.”  Decal edges are “roughed” edged on special paper.

Pictures #1 to #4 show four different kinds of paper that have produced a slightly different “edge.”

Picture #2 has a “looser” edge than picture #1.

Picture #3 has a “tighter edge” than picture #4 because the paper is different.

Picture #5 and #6 show the edges of an envelope flap.

Picture #7 is the decal edge on the cover of a perfect bound book!

Decal edging requires special, cotton based paper and special machinery to produce.  Simply, the product is very expensive.  However, the process sometime sells the job.  In the case of the perfect bound book, the decal edge on the cover really distinguished the book!
