This book style is becoming extremely rare. Many years ago, almost all hardback, bound books have the “bumps on the spine” as indicated here. That was part of the binding function that made the book hold together. Today it’s another story. The bumps on the spine are purely cosmetic, can produce in different numbers, maybe two, three, four or five bumps. They cost substantially more money than a regular hardback case bound book. They do not add to the durability of the book. But if you want to convey out an old image, you want to convey something that appears to be higher image, think “bumps” on the spine of a hardback book.
