At first glance, this looks like a normal hardback case bound book. When the front cover is opened, you can see that the printed endpapers are lined in is case as in a normal hardback case bound book. However turning the next page indicates this book style binding is actually a board book style. The pages are much thinner than a conventional board book and what’s different and most unusual about this book is when you turn to page one there’s a pop-up called a “land snail”. Yes, this pop-up requires a die-cutting. We have six machines. Some of the components could be automatically folded, most of it requires handwork. We have a number of skilled hand workers who do this kind of work all the time. There’s a number of different pages, each one is a different pop up and it closes as a normal book. Costly yes, effective for kids interest, yes. So for something, creative, like a thin page board book, maybe with die cut panels, maybe with pop-ups similar to this, various styles, various thicknesses, printed wraps or cloth wraps we can do it. When your client is talking about a board book, keep thinking about the creative ways to make them. You can add value to it. There are many ways we can help you produce a complex job.
