The product I’m showing this week is not just functional and innovative, but also simple to produce. A bottle neck hanger is often just a 4 page sheet that is die cut. This bottle neck hang tag combines a regular miniature saddle stitched booklet with a die cut backer that bends on the perforated line and then hooks onto the neck of a beverage bottle.

We say yes to buckle folding 40” sheets

We’re a trade bindery that offers services that are tough to find elsewhere. Do you have a Buckle Folding job that’s larger than 30”? All but a few buckle folding machines are just 34” or smaller, which limits printers that print 28” x 40” sheets.

We have 40” and 44” Buckle Folders, which means we can fold jobs on large sheets. Please give us a call if you’re having difficulty finding a finisher!

Diamond Brochure Fold

This week’s email features a 50,000 unit run university acceptance brochure. Universities and colleges continue to spend money on print advertising, specifically direct mail. Every year, we do a giant run of folded brochures for the University of Chicago. When looking to expand your market, advertise to higher education institutions because they are an area of growth within the graphic arts industry!

Now, onto the unique, diamond folded piece! This 8.5” x 11” folded piece was first die creased on our 40” Bobst / Brausse die cutter. The folding was then done partly automatically and finished by hand.

What looks like a regular 4 page brochure opens to a stunning arrangement of folds!

As you can see in the images above, this folded piece opens the same way as a saddle-stitched book.

Then, as you can see, when the user opens this folder, the centre pops up and outward in a diamond shape. The final fold opens the piece to measure 16” x 17.”

12” Loop Machine Strung Hang Tags!

Tag Stringing has been around for a long time, but that doesn’t mean we don’t keep innovating and adding new processes to our customers. We recently added new machines that can string hang tags with 12” loops AUTOMATICALLY! You read that correctly. Do you have a tag stringing job that your supplier says they can’t do automatically (and you don’t want to pay for the tags to be hand strung)? Give us a call!

Not only are we one of the few suppliers that can string hang tags with 12” loops, we also produce plastic hang tags, large hole hang tags and eyelet hang tags.

Our machinery also enables us to offer tag stringing for these types of tags:

  • Saddle stitched booklet tags
  • Miniature or oversized tags
  • Diecut tags

The above image shows a plastic tag that we can now string. Plastic tags are a great option for outdoor environments or where they need to be water resistant or waterproof.

One of the most innovative folds in print finishing is the Broadside Folded Booklets. Simply put, the broadside (aka long side) of a sheet is folded first, before any other folding is done. A simple slit in the middle of the sheet turns a simple sheet of paper into an 8-page, 10-page or 12-page booklet! No glue, no metal stitches … fully recyclable booklets are possible!

Any bindery can make Broadside Folded Booklets on smaller 26” long press sheets, but we can fold full 28” x 40” sheets! Our 3 large-format folding machines can fold Broadside Folded Brochures on sheets up to 44” long!
