Canadian Binding

Years ago I heard the expression “Canadian Binding”, but I took no notice.  I’ve had since come across requests to bind books with the “Canadian Binding” style, so I investigated further and found that “Canadian Binding” style is something we have been producing for decades!  As pictured, a “Canadian Binding” style consist of wire-o binding that has a three panel or wraparound cover.  Simply, the wire-o binding can be seen only on the inside back cover.  This binding method allows for printed spine to be shown on a bookshelf.  The “Canadian Binding” style allows for the wire-o binding element to be hidden except for when the book is open.

Like all wire-o binding the “Canadian Binding” style allows for mixed stocks for pages, mixed page sizes, fold outs, split binding or two or three colours of wire-o biding in one book.  The “Canadian Binding” style of wire-o binding style allows designers lots of room for creativity and innovation.  The “Canadian Binding” style, wire-o binding, can have solid printed cover such as 16 point or 20 point, (or in some cases lighter) stock, or the cover can be case wrapped…most often with film laminated litho printed paper or cloth or man-made material which can be foil stamped or debossed/embossed.
